<p>I&#8217;ve just put together a short tutorial about a new Social Media &#8216;Drill&#8217; I&#8217;ve come up with called &#8216;Facebook In Fifteen Minutes&#8217;.</p>
<p>The drill has a very simple purpose: <strong><em>To DECREASE the amount of TIME spent on Facebook, while INCREASING your ACTIVITY and EFFECTIVENESS. </em></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">That is it. The formula is really easy &#8230; </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'American Typewriter'; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: 'American Typewriter'; font-size: large;"><span style="color: #3334fd;">Decrease Time</span></span> + <span style="color: #379751;"><strong>Increase Activity/Effectiveness</strong></span> = <span style="font-family: 'American Typewriter'; font-size: large;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #cf001a;">Social Media Mastery</span></span></span></span></p>
<p>The Facebook Fifteen Minute Drill is one way to begin achieving this desired outcome. I explain it start to finish in the video. Take a look, apply it, and let me know how it works for you.</p>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[
   var playerhost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://www.ezs3.com/secure/" : "http://www.ezs3.com/players/"); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + playerhost + "flv/davidsanderson/903A1C83-D4C5-4664-2F7E402DD7B4E22A.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p>In case you weren&#8217;t taking notes, here&#8217;s the layout for the drill:</p>
<p><span style="font-family: 'Marker Felt'; font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #2b49d3;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-family: Copperplate; font-size: large;"><strong>Facebook In Fifteen Minutes</strong></span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><span>5 Minutes</span></span></strong></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><span> &#8211;&gt;</span></span> Personally reply to messages in Inbox with text and/or video (be inquisitive, answer questions, create conversation)</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><span>4 Minutes</span></span></strong></span><span style="font-size: medium;"><span> &#8211;&gt;</span></span> Comment on Status Updates of <em>Active &#8216;Facebookers&#8217; </em>on your Top Lists</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: medium;"><span><strong>3 Minutes &#8211;&gt;</strong></span></span> Be Present and Add Value to Active Groups you&#8217;re a part of</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: medium;"><span><strong>3 Minutes &#8211;&gt;</strong></span></span> Be Present and Add Value to Pages you&#8217;re a Fan of</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Papyrus; font-size: large;"><span style="color: #cf0107;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span>LOG OFF!!!</span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #cf0107;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: small;"><span>That&#8217;s it! Learn to love this &#8216;Drill&#8217; and you&#8217;ll finally start to feel like you are controlling Social Media, instead of it being the other way around. </span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span>Have a terrific week everyone! I&#8217;ll catch you online!</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #292cd3;"><span style="font-family: 'Handwriting - Dakota'; font-size: x-large;"><strong>DAVE <img src='http://daveanderson.tv/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </strong></span></span></p>

<p>If you want to be successful at anything at all, one of the quickest ways to do it is to model the habits and behaviours of people who have already achieved success in that area.</p>
<p>This is how you take something potentially complicated and vague, and distill it into its&#8217; simplest form so that you can immediately implement it.</p>
<p>But how often do you actually do this, if ever? Do you ever LITERALLY MODEL the work of somebody already successful in your field?</p>
<p>One of things that I&#8217;ve invested a lot of time in recently is improving my Copywriting skills. I&#8217;m currently reading a book by Maria Veloso called <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0814413048?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=datvletolethp-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0814413048" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.amazon.com/gp/product/0814413048?ie=UTF8_amp_tag=datvletolethp-20_amp_linkCode=as2_amp_camp=1789_amp_creative=390957_amp_creativeASIN=0814413048&amp;referer=');">Web Copy That Sells: The Revolutionary Formula for Creating Killer Copy That Grabs Their Attention and Compels Them to Buy</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=datvletolethp-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0814413048" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" />.</p>
<p>(Amazing book &#8230; I highly recommend it)</p>
<p>At one point in the book, Maria discusses the importance of modelling and assigns a piece of homework that totally opened my eyes.</p>
<p>Here is the homework &#8230; straight from the book:</p>
<p><em>&#8216;In web copywriting, the best way to model success is to select a website that you admire greatly and that you know has produced tons of sales for its owner. Start copying it by hand. Write the entire sales letter out in your own handwriting. Write it out two or three times over the next week. Depending on how fast you write, this will take roughly five hours&#8212;less if you write quickly or if the sales letter you choose is short.&#8217;</em></p>
<p>So, I did it. I went over to <a href="http://attractiveleadership.com" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/attractiveleadership.com?referer=');">one of the highest converting sales letters in our industry</a> and copied it out &#8230; by hand. It took a long time. Though I did it over 4 days, I think it took me about 5 hours in total.</p>
<p>But let me tell you, it was absolutely worth the time, 100%.</p>
<p>It was a pure learning experience. By the end I felt like I was beginning to internalize the wording, the way the phrases where crafted, the rhythm and even the mind-set of the person who wrote this particular sales letter.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m definitely going to do this again. Likely once more with the same sales letter, and then I&#8217;ll move on to another one, written by somebody completely different, but equally successful.</p>
<p>I had been told before that modelling is THE fastest way from A to B, but never quite understood what that really meant. Now, I get it.</p>
<p>So I throw it out to you. You&#8217;ve got to be a little bit brave to give this a shot. It will take some of your time. You can&#8217;t go into this assignment carrying the fear that you&#8217;re wasting your time. You have to make the decision to INVEST 5 hours of your life to become better at something.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the thing &#8211; If you are dead serious about leveraging the true power of the Internet to build your business, learning to write web copy isn&#8217;t really an option. It&#8217;s a necessary skill that will continue to separate those who are truly successful, from those who simply enjoy playing around on the internet.</p>
<p>I encourage you to give it a shot, and let me know how it goes. If you&#8217;re experience is anything like mine was, you will be absolutely amazed and thrilled that you invested the time to complete the assignment.</p>
<p>Have a great week!</p>
<p>Dave</p>
<p>P.S. I&#8217;m really excited to hear about your experience with this assignment. Leave a comment and commit to doing it, and then come back when you&#8217;re finished and share your experience. And don&#8217;t forget to tweet this to your followers. It will be an eye-opening activity for anyone who puts the time in.</p>

<p>Alright, I don&#8217;t want to start any rumours.</p>
<p>Conan O&#8217;Brien (as far as I know) <strong>is not</strong> looking to start a Home Business. The guy was just handed 40 Million Dollars to stay at home for 7 months. Crazy, right?</p>
<p><em>(if you&#8217;re not caught up on the story I&#8217;m referring to, you&#8217;ll want to <a href="http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/television/article/754861--conan-o-brien-takes-his-parting-shots-but-thanks-nbc?bn=1" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.thestar.com/entertainment/television/article/754861--conan-o-brien-takes-his-parting-shots-but-thanks-nbc?bn=1&amp;referer=');">do that</a> before you read on)</em></p>
<p>But what would happen if he did? How would Conan O&#8217;Brien<em> </em>fare in the wild and wacky world of Network Marketing?</p>
<p>Perhaps the answer is obvious. Hypothetically, if Conan O&#8217;Brien was to write an email to his millions of followers tomorrow stating that he&#8217;s retired from the TV industry and has decided to work from home through affiliation with &#8216;XYZ&#8217; Network Marketing Company, I suspect that a percentage of his <em><a href="http://daveanderson.tv/internetmarketing/tribe-centric-industry/" target="_blank">Tribe </a></em>would click-thru a link or two, and enter their credit card information, either to try the product he was promoting, or  to become a part of his downline.</p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t that be wild? I love Conan, and <strong>I&#8217;d be all over it!</strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">Without getting too carried, I think there are some things we can all take away. </span></strong></p>
<p>Now, here&#8217;s the thing &#8211; I am not Conan O&#8217;Brien, and most likely neither are you.</p>
<p><em>(Conan &#8211; if you do happen to read this, I&#8217;ve got a GREAT spot for you in my downline!!!)</em></p>
<p>But  in all seriousness, I&#8217;m not Oprah Winfrey, President Obama, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Derek Jeter or Brad Pitt.</p>
<p>Here are a couple of questions I&#8217;m going to throw out there. Maybe you can help me to answer them &#8230; Of course, I will offer my own thoughts before I pass the buck:</p>
<p><strong>1) How do these Mega-Stars create these powerful groups of incredibly loyal and passionate followers?</strong></p>
<p><em>and &#8230;</em></p>
<p><strong>2) Without our own TV show on NBC, or playing shortstop for the Yankees, how can we as &#8216;Average Joe Entrepreneurs&#8217; develop a similar type of following?</strong><strong> <em><span style="font-weight: normal;">(perhaps with a slightly smaller group of people)</span></em></strong></p>
<p style="font-size: 14px;">Let&#8217;s get back to Conan for a second. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What steps has he taken to build a strong personal brand?</span></p>
<p>1) He found his <strong>vehicle</strong></p>
<p>2) He developed <strong>original </strong>and <strong>unique </strong><strong>content</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong>3) He began to <strong>consistently</strong> <strong>deliver</strong> the <em>content</em> <strong>in his own voice, </strong>through <em>his own person style</em></p>
<p>4) The combination of regular content, and an authentic personality, attracted a core group of fans</p>
<p>5) He continued to <strong>develop a relationship</strong> with his &#8216;<em>list</em>&#8216; through <em>regular communication</em> and a <em>continuous stream</em> of <strong>valuable content</strong></p>
<p>6) In doing this over a period of time, he became <strong>likeable </strong>and <strong>trustworthy</strong> in the eyes of his followers</p>
<p>Isn&#8217;t this the name of the game? Here&#8217;s the thing &#8211; we don&#8217;t need MILLIONS of fans and followers. In fact, we don&#8217;t (necessarily) need thousands &#8230; though it can&#8217;t hurt. Conan has now left NBC. Rumour has it that he may at some point sign a contract with FOX. Do you think he&#8217;ll still have a successful show? I do.</p>
<p>The key is to get started, to find your vehicle <em>(a blog, for starters)</em>, and to begin getting compensated based on your passion.</p>
<p>This message is <strong>critical </strong>for the thousands and thousands of network marketers out there, who have yet to begin the development of their own <strong>personal brands</strong>. Of course, it&#8217;s CRUCIAL to partner with the right company &#8211; one with killer consumable products, a fair (and generous) compensation plan, leaders with a proven track record, progressive training, and a mission and vision that you can align yourself with.</p>
<p>However, regardless of the company you&#8217;re with, the best thing you can do for your business long term, is to begin to develop a brand centred around YOU. I realize that for many of you, this is an intimidating concept. Maybe you don&#8217;t understand (yet)<strong> </strong>how investing in your brand will ultimately grow your network marketing business &#8230;</p>
<p>That&#8217;s okay.</p>
<p>If that&#8217;s you, I&#8217;ve added two new tools to my &#8216;<a href="http://daveanderson.tv/recommended-resources/" target="_blank">Recommended Resources</a>&#8216; page (#6 and #7) to help get you over this road block when you&#8217;re ready.</p>
<p>Finally, I wanted to share Conan&#8217;s farewell message. Watch as he <strong>displays genuine gratitude </strong>towards his employer of 20 years (NBC), and shares some <strong>very honest</strong> and <strong>real advice </strong>with his fans.</p>
<p>Notice the authenticity. Conan has built his brand simply by<em> being himself.</em> <strong>This is what makes him attractive and why people will continue to be loyal to his brand.</strong></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="500" height="405" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/e35SVmdx9nY&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;color2=0x999999&amp;border=1" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="false" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="405" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/e35SVmdx9nY&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;color2=0x999999&amp;border=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="false"></embed></object></p>
<p>What a class act!</p>
<p>Well that&#8217;s about it from me &#8230; for today. There is a lot more that could (and will) be said about this topic, and despite the fact that personal branding is alive and kicking in our industry, there are THOUSANDS more who still need to hear this message. Don&#8217;t believe me? Head over to Twitter and count the number of tweets that lead you directly to replicated company websites.</p>
<p>Have an incredible week!</p>
<p>Cheers to Conan O&#8217;Brien, and Cheers to you!</p>

The idea of having to constantly be coming up with intelligent thoughts or &#8216;Tweets&#8217; really intimidated me.</p>
<p>Also, when I looked around, it seemed like there were people out there who did absolutely nothing all day except sit at their computers and Tweet. (By the way, those people really do exist). I didn&#8217;t know how I was ever going to compete with the people out there putting out 30+ tweets per day. I did not want to become a &#8216;Perma-Tweeter&#8217;, though I knew that I needed to start using this form Social Media. I just didn&#8217;t want it to take over my business &#8230; and my life.</p>
<p>After some serious digging around, I&#8217;ve discovered some simple (and FREE) online tools that when used properly, make the whole Twitter Experience A LOT more enjoyable, and ultimately, <strong>more</strong> <strong>efficient.</strong></p>
<p>So, I&#8217;ve thrown together a short training on what I&#8217;ve decided to call, <strong><em>&#8216;The Twitter Trio&#8217;. </em><span style="font-weight: normal;">In today&#8217;s video, </span><span style="font-weight: normal;">I am going to walk</span><span style="font-weight: normal;"> you through </span><span style="font-weight: normal;">3 tools</span><span style="font-weight: normal;"> that I use daily in order to </span><span style="font-weight: normal;"><em>make the most of my Twitter time.</em></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">Check it out, and let me know what you think.</span></strong></p>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[
var playerhost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://www.ezs3.com/secure/" : "http://www.ezs3.com/players/");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + playerhost + "flv/davidsanderson/48A3525F-0893-9E32-E928C1E0AF61DA94.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">If there are tools you use that I don&#8217;t mention here, please do share them with us. </span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">And as always, if you feel this video might be of any value to your<em> </em>followers, </span>ReTweet this post </strong>and spread the word on these incredibly useful services.</p>
<p>Have an incredible week everyone!</p>

<p><span style="font-size: small;">A simple idea, with<span style="font-size: medium;"><strong> infinite power. </strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">As leaders in the Network Marketing Industry, our objective is to build a &#8216;Tribe&#8217; or Network of people through a shared idea or belief. Easy! Right? It can seem easy enough, but then why is it so many Networkers out there are struggling to grow their businesses? Why is the failure rate in the Home-Based Business Industry over 95%? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">I encourage you to watch Seth Godin&#8217;s TED Talk I&#8217;ve embedded below. I&#8217;ve watched this video 3 times this week, and just last night, in my 3rd time through the video, I finally got it!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Something occurred to me about our industry &#8211; about why so many people are having such a hard time getting into real momentum with their businesses. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">In this video, Seth talks about <strong>3 Movements of Change</strong>. Now, I realize that most of you will not take the time to watch this entire video, and that is absolutely fine. Obviously, I&#8217;d encourage you to invest 17:23 of your time and watch it, but if you only have 5 minutes right now, you need to start the video at <strong>3:54 </strong>and watch through to <strong>9:06. </strong></span></p>
<p><em><strong>Ready, Set, </strong></em><em><strong>Play</strong></em><em><strong>.</strong></em></p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="560" height="340" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQGYr9bnktw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x006699&amp;color2=0x54abd6" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="false" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="340" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQGYr9bnktw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x006699&amp;color2=0x54abd6" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="false"></embed></object></p>
<p>Alright, so now that you&#8217;ve seen it, I&#8217;ll share with you the <strong>moment of clarity </strong>that I had during my 3rd time through the video.</p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Here it is:</span></strong></p>
<p><em>The reason that so many networkers are struggling in their businesses, is because they are operating with a<strong> TV-Type Mentality </strong>in a <strong>Tribe-Centric </strong><strong>Industry</strong></em><em>. </em></p>
<p>In other words, they are focused on <strong>advertising </strong>and <strong>selling (or pushing)</strong> their business and products to anyone and everyone within arms reach. Instead, the real focus should be placed on <strong>creating a space </strong><em>(or multiple spaces)</em> that <em>allows</em> for people who are <em>passionate</em> about an <em>idea</em> to <strong>connect, </strong>and to <strong><em>grow</em></strong> <em><strong>freely</strong></em><strong>, <em><span style="font-weight: normal;">along with their cause. </span></em></strong></p>
<p>If you feel like you are spending a lot of your time and <em>energy </em>advertising and <strong>selling</strong> your products and business, then you are likely stuck in a <strong>TV-Type Mindset.</strong> Unfortunately this type of approach will only work for BIG corporations with lots and LOTS of <strong>Brand Power </strong>and Money such as <em>McDonald&#8217;s, Coca-Cola, </em><em>Johnson &amp; Johnson, </em>and yes &#8230; <em>Wal-Mart</em><em>.</em></p>
<p>If this is you <em>(and I know we&#8217;ve ALL been there)</em>, then perhaps you might consider shifting into a <strong>Tribe-Centric Approach. </strong></p>
<p>One of the simplest ways that you can start to implement this approach <strong>today</strong>, is to <strong>create</strong> or join what&#8217;s widely become known as a <strong><a href="http://daveanderson.tv/meet-my-tribe/" target="_blank">Blogging Alliance</a></strong><strong>. </strong>A Blogging Alliance is a group <em>(tribe) </em>of people connected by the <strong>idea</strong> that blogging is a critical first step in developing your personal brand online.</p>
<p>The side benefit to a Tribe of this nature, is that you can help each other to get noticed by <strong>syndicating </strong>each other&#8217;s content. Not to mention the fact that through openly sharing information with one another, you will all continuously be learning and <strong>increasing your value.</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Check out some of the Superstars in my <strong><a href="http://daveanderson.tv/meet-my-tribe/" target="_blank">Blogging Alliance</a></strong><strong>, </strong>check out their sites, and consider forming your own or finding a powerful Tribe to plug in to. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">I hope that your week is filled with <em>friends</em>, <em>fun</em>, <em>wellness</em> and <em>passion</em>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Sincerely,</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Dave</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">P.S. I&#8217;d love to hear your thoughts on today&#8217;s post, so please feel free to share them, but here&#8217;s my thought: when you leave a comment today<strong>, give a shout out </strong>to any blogging superstar who you think is <strong>&#8216;doing it right&#8217;. </strong>Share a <em>link to their blog</em> and a <em>short testimonial</em> for them.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">P.P.S. And of course, if you feel in alignment with the message, be sure to Retweet it to your Twitter followers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><em>&#8216;Leaders commit to the cause, they commit to the Tribe, they commit to the people who are there.&#8217; ~<a href="http://sethgodin.typepad.com/" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/sethgodin.typepad.com/?referer=');">Seth Godin</a></em></span></p>

Regardless, you&#8217;re being told seemingly by everyone and their sister that you need to start using TECHNOLOGY to grow your business, otherwise you&#8217;ll be left in the dust.</p>
<p>So &#8230; you&#8217;ve got a Facebook account and perhaps a Twitter account too if you&#8217;re really fancy. But now, (if you&#8217;re like me at all) you find yourself spending a lot of time finicking around with these accounts. You&#8217;re finding old friends from high school and university, you&#8217;re joining all sorts of groups, Tweeting about your minute-by-minute activities, and quite naturally being sucked in by the ultra-magnetic force of Social Media.</p>
<p>First of all, this is <strong>way normal</strong>, <strong>totally okay</strong>, and you&#8217;re probably <strong>having fun too. </strong>And that is what it&#8217;s all about.</p>
<p><strong>Except, it&#8217;s not ALL about having fun, is it?</strong></p>
<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong &#8211; it is important to have fun in life and in your business. I&#8217;m all for it.</p>
<p>But you REALLY want to get down to business, don&#8217;t you? So, let&#8217;s do that. Let&#8217;s <strong>get down to business!</strong></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s get &#8217;serious&#8217; <img src='http://daveanderson.tv/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif' alt=':-|' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">You&#8217;ve thought about it long enough &#8230; it is time to &#8216;Get Your Blog On&#8217;</span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">You heard me right. It is time to Get Your Blog On! Yee-haw! Woo-hoo! YES!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Drop the Social Networks for just a second. Yup, Facebook too. We&#8217;ll come back to that later. First, you need a blog. Now I am not one to make ANY assumptions at all, so just to make sure we&#8217;re ALL on the same page, I am going to insert a Wikipedia definition of a blog. (If you&#8217;re already a Pro, bear with me&#8230;) Here it is:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><em>A </em><strong><em><span style="font-size: small;">blog</span></em></strong><em><span style="font-size: small;"> (a </span></em><em><span style="font-size: small;">contraction</span></em><em><span style="font-size: small;"> of the term &#8220;</span></em><strong><em><span style="font-size: small;">web log</span></em></strong><em><span style="font-size: small;">&#8220;)</span></em><sup><em><span style="font-size: small;">[1]</span></em></sup><em><span style="font-size: small;"> is a type of </span></em><em><span style="font-size: small;">website</span></em><em><span style="font-size: small;">, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.</span></em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: x-small;"><em><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-style: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Got it? Good! Let&#8217;s move on. Actually, let&#8217;s wait a second. Maybe your questioning this whole notion and you&#8217;re wondering why YOU need to have a blog? Especially since your BUSINESS is about selling nutritional products, or telecommunications services or organic cleaning products. How is <em>blogging</em> about all this other stuff going to help me grow my network marketing business? </span></span></span></em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Here is my answer (not necessarily THE answer). You get paid in this industry by building and LEADING a network of like-minded people who you teach and TRAIN to duplicate exactly what you&#8217;re doing. Yes? Good. Now, the people who decide to join you, follow you, and implement the things you teach them all have one thing in common: They <strong>know, like </strong>and <strong>trust you.</strong> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Your <strong><em>blog </em><span style="font-weight: normal;">is going to be the place where potential customers and business partners from all over the world can visit in order to develop a relationship with you. It&#8217;s a place for you to invite others into YOUR world and SHARE your VALUE with the world.</span></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">Now, if you&#8217;re like most, you&#8217;re already questioning the amount of Value that you have to give. What could you possibly write about that other people could learn from? </span></strong></span></p>
<p><span><span style="font-size: small;">Allow me to help you out a little bit. Start by writing down a list of all of your hobbies, interests, PASSIONS, subjects you know lots about, and your BEST personality traits. Ok, don&#8217;t just think all these things in your head &#8230; <strong>write them down &#8230; on paper <img src='http://daveanderson.tv/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </strong></span></span></p>
<p><span><span style="font-size: small;">Now let&#8217;s zero in on this a little more. You&#8217;ll notice I caps-locked a word in the previous sentence. What are you PASSIONATE about? What do you not stop thinking about? If you had all the money in the world, what would you spend your time doing? THIS is what you want to share with your readers. This is what you want to teach people about. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">We&#8217;ve all got tons of value to share. By setting up a blog (or what I refer to as the &#8216;Nucleus&#8217; of my online marketing system) we all people to slowly, over time, get to know, like and eventually trust us (in that order).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">That&#8217;s going to be it for today. In Part 2 of this series, I will show how to set up you&#8217;re blog. But if I&#8217;ve really inspired you, and you want to get this going NOW, there are resources all over the place that will take you through everything. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Here&#8217;s one of the best places to <strong><a href="http://wordpress.org/download/" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/wordpress.org/download/?referer=');">start</a></strong>. I&#8217;m a BIG fan of WordPress. They&#8217;ve got a great tutorial on this page that takes you through everything.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">In the mean time, you&#8217;ll want to continue thinking about some of the information and value you have to share with the world.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Have an awesome day, and an amazing weekend!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Sincerely,</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Dave</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">P.S. If you&#8217;re already a blogger, I&#8217;d love for you to share your ideas and experiences below so that we can all learn from you. What advice do you have for someone just getting started?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">P.P.S. If you&#8217;re up to it, share the blogging love with your Twitter followers by clicking the green Retweet button at the top of the page. My hope is that this series of posts helps to motivate all of those networkers who have been putting off blogging and move them into inspired action.</span></p>

I&#8217;m currently reading one of his many bestselling books called &#8216;<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tribes-We-Need-You-Lead/dp/1591842336" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.amazon.com/Tribes-We-Need-You-Lead/dp/1591842336?referer=');">Tribes</a>&#8216; and I am finding it to be one of the most fascinating and exciting books I have read in quite a while. I am absolutely burning my way through it.</p>
<p>Just yesterday I returned home from Montréal. My girlfriend and I were there for a mini-vacation to celebrate the New Year. We had some down time from all of our site seeing during the afternoon on New Years Day, and so I was able to grab some time to dig into the book a little deeper.</p>
<p>I was drawn to re-read a short section entitled &#8216;Fear of Failure is Overrated&#8217;. In just a few paragraphs, Seth considers  one of the most common excuses people  give for not living their true passions in life: the fear failure.</p>
<p>Seth challenges this and suggests that this may be an easy out for too many people and that what more people truly fear is <em>criticism </em>or being <em>judged.</em></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a Seth Godin one-liner that really struck a chord with me:</p>
<p><em>&#8216;We choose not to be remarkable because we&#8217;re worried about criticism. We hesitate to create innovative movies, launch new human resource initiatives, design a menu that makes diners take notice, or give an audacious sermon because we&#8217;re worried, deep down, that someone will hate it and call us on it&#8217;.</em></p>
<p>Take a moment to re-read that quote &#8230; does it ring true for you at all? This one hit me &#8230; hard.</p>
<p>He suggests that perhaps the fear of criticism is so powerful, because the criticism doesn&#8217;t even have to occur for the fear to set in and paralyze us from taking action.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know about you, but (sometimes) I&#8217;ve got this really annoying (and creative) voice in my head that comes up with all sorts of interesting <em>stories</em> about criticism I MIGHT receive for doing something &#8216;out of the ordinary&#8217; &#8230; or, outside of that &#8216;comfort zone&#8217; that&#8217;s so often discussed &#8211; especially in the home-based business industry.</p>
<p>So what type of criticism is it that we fear? Here&#8217;s the truth &#8211; criticism that is specific and constructive can be one of best friends in all aspects of life, and especially as an entrepreneur. When delivered (and received) properly it can help to move us forward and make us better.</p>
<p>But the voice in my head (and maybe yours too) isn&#8217;t so worried about this type of criticism. It&#8217;s busy coming up with criticism that is both <em>negative</em> and <em>vague. </em>Stuff like, &#8216;You&#8217;re absolutely NUTS for writing that&#8217;, or &#8216;You look <em>funny</em> in that video&#8217;. Nobody wants to hear this stuff.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s another Seth Godin pearl to consider:</p>
<p><em>&#8216;If the only side effect of the criticism is that you will feel bad about the criticism, then you have to compare that bad feeling with the benefits you&#8217;ll get from actually doing something worth doing. Being remarkable is exciting, fun, profitable, and great for your career. Feeling bad wears off&#8217;. </em></p>
<p>So &#8230; what&#8217;s the solution? How do we snap out of our fear-based paralyzes and take a step towards greatness?</p>
<p>Here are some of my strategies:</p>
<p>1) Become proficient at <a href="http://www.emotionallyfreetosucceed.com" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.emotionallyfreetosucceed.com?referer=');">EFT</a> (Emotional Freedom Technique)</p>
<p>I use EFT daily to help overcome all sorts of emotional blocks. Once you learn the basic &#8216;recipe&#8217; you can use EFT on just about anything.</p>
<p>2) Write down a list of the criticisms you&#8217;re most afraid of hearing, and write down who you think might deliver it to you. Then take time to consider what sort of measurable impact this would have on you. If you find it tough to come up with realistic, negative consequences, that should tell you something &#8230;. it&#8217;s likely an &#8216;irrational fear&#8217; and you probably won&#8217;t ever hear the criticism you&#8217;re most worried about.</p>
<p>And finally, I&#8217;ll leave you with the same question Seth Godin poses at the end of this section. Consider the following:</p>
<p><em>&#8216;How can you create something that people will criticize?&#8217;</em></p>
<p>I believe that when we answer this question with total honesty, we&#8217;ll really be headed somewhere worth going.</p>
<p>Thoughts?</p>
<p>Have a great week!</p>
<p>Sincerely,</p>
<p>Dave</p>
<p>P.S. I&#8217;d love to hear whatever criticism (or feedback) you&#8217;ve got. And feel free to help us all out by sharing your best practices for dealing with this sort of fear.</p>
<p>And, IF you feel this post is worthy of any criticism (be it good or bad) go right ahead and share it with all of your &#8216;Tribes&#8217;.</p>
<h2 style="font-size: 1.5em; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-style: normal; color: #000000; text-align: center; margin: 0px;"><span style="color: #ff0000;">FREE WEBINAR: Thursday, January 28th…</span></h2>

<p>I have just returned home from a 5 Day  Personal Development Retreat and I wanted to share with you the 5 pearls of wisdom that I was able to take away from the experience.</p>
<p>Once you read through these, I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts. And don&#8217;t forget &#8211; if you know of any leaders who might benefit from these key points, be sure to share the post via a simple re-tweet.</p>
<p>Here it goes:</p>
<p><strong>1) I Can Only LEAD Someone As Far As I Can Go</strong></p>
<p>This one really hit me, and it was consistently re-enforced throughout my 5 days in Santa Barbara. It is absolutely critical that as a leader you are in 100% integrity. You cannot ask people to do things that you are not willing to do yourself. This is something that I think is really easy to do, and it&#8217;s also something I believe many are guilty of (including myself). One really easy way to stifle your growth and success is to ask people on your team to do things you&#8217;ve either never done or simply aren&#8217;t willing to do. Leaders always carve a path for their teams. This means going first and showing the way.</p>
<p><strong>2) I TRUST In My Ability To Co-Create</strong></p>
<p>Do you know of anyone  who has to do things themselves in order to ensure they&#8217;re being done the &#8216;RIGHT&#8217; way? Even successful leaders sometimes lack 100% TRUST in their teams. As human beings we are born with the ability to interact with on another and to co-create. Surely you&#8217;ve heard the saying &#8216;Two minds are better than one.&#8217; This is absolutely true &#8211; and 5 minds are better than 2. A great leader is able to take those minds, focus them on a common goal and help to co-create a winning formula.</p>
<p><strong>3) My POWER Exists In The Present Moment (**SNAP**)</strong></p>
<p>Read this line out load and follow it with a sharp **SNAP**. Feel the Power in it. Become aware of where your mind is at right now. Are you still humming and hawing over a call you made to a prospect that you &#8216;messed up&#8217; last week? Are you anticipating your next big meeting or presentation? Really think about this, and try to shift your mind so that you are focused and centred in the PRESENT moment. Use the **SNAP** as an anchor to bring you to the present when you catch yourself drifting off. Awareness is the first step in this &#8211; seek to become aware.</p>
<p><strong>4) The Key To CHANGE Lies Within Me</strong></p>
<p>What is your &#8216;Key To Change&#8217;? Go ahead and seriously ask yourself this question. Now, don&#8217;t worry to much if the answer doesn&#8217;t come to you right away. This will likely require a bit of digging. To give you an example, my key to change is to stop worrying about what others are thinking about me. I need to release my fear of being judged. We&#8217;ve all got an internal block that holds us back. Maybe you&#8217;ve already been successful in removing this, but for most people there&#8217;s still something there. If you are able to clear it however, you&#8217;ll be able to realize your true potential. I challenge you to figure out what your key to change is. What&#8217;s that one thing preventing you from becoming the success you know you can be? Remember, it&#8217;s nothing on the outside of you. The truth is that your inner world IS your outer world.</p>
<p><strong>5) When I Change My FOCUS I Change My Life</strong></p>
<p>Consider the truth in the following: &#8216;Where my focus goes, energy flows and results show. My focus creates my reality.&#8217; I heard this recently from one of mentors who I met up with in Santa Barbara and I absolutely love it.  I would encourage you to right this one down and put it up somewhere you will see it regularly. It is far to easy to allow our focus to wander. Scattered Focus = Scattered Results. It&#8217;s so logical, isn&#8217;t it? Figure out the things that distract and the things that help you to focus and create an environment that allows you to focus with ease.</p>
<p>So what are your thoughts? Which of these do you struggle with? What key areas are you successful in? We&#8217;ve all got our strengths and our opportunities for growth. If you&#8217;ve recently discovered your Key To Change, let us know how you did it. If you find it really challenging to Trust your team and those around you, share that too, and try to figure out Why that is.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s all for now! Thanks for visiting. Come back soon.</p>
<p>To Your Success,</p>
